Well done to everybody who took part in the Battle of Britain Fight Night against PUMA and Evolution. The APTI finally came away with
a slver medal after some very hard fights. A full write up is available here, and there are some photos and videos on thephotos page.
We have had to change the training night at Sandown to a Thursday Night because of difficulties getting
the South Gym due to the exams. We have been guarenteed the Sports Centre Hall every Thursday from 5th June 2008. We are planning
to have another club in the Shanklin area on a Tuesday, before the end of the year.
We had the 2 seminars at the weekend, which
I think everyone will agree was highy educational. A big thank you to Master Ferguson and Mr & Mrs Tizick for come to teach us.
There are some photo's of the saturday session on the photos page.
Also this weekend we ha the club grading, as usual the standard
was good. Congratulations to Kat Rossetti and Sara Bennett who both got an A grade in the traditional style.
The annual
club party was held Saturday evening, after the grading, great fun was had by all with a few of us having slightly too much to drink.
The students of the year awards were given out to Margaret Smith (senior student) and Alex Box (junior student) for their hard training
and support of the club. They were given their trophies by Master Ferguson. A special presentation was also made to Mr Barnes by the
senior black belts in recognition of the 10 year anniversary of the club on the Island - without Mr Barnes none of us woud have got
where we have today. Photos to follow
Saturday February 16th saw the 1st Club grading to be held on a weekend, it was back
in the boxing club at totland, which felt quite strange for some of the senoir grades as many of them had taken their first lessons
and gradings there! Although there wasn't a great number of students grading, the standard was high. The format changed slightly with
the students being called to the table for questions from their marks but we all felt that this added to the atmosphere as they were
then clapped after being dismissed.
